Nacogdoches Born and Raised

Mindy has lived in Nacogdoches for the majority of her life and it's the town she will always call home.

She spends her free time enjoying her grandkids and cheering from the sidelines in support of her kids. Mindy supports the NHS Dragonettes and Captain Torie Langford.  She also enjoys hunting,  fishing, and traveling the back roads.

Mindy Beene Winslow is a home-town girl raised by home-town parents.  She is a parent, a grandparent, a wife and a daughter.

Mindy has worked at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital for 14 years and tallies more than 30 years in the healthcare industry. She started getting involved in area schools after moving home to Nacogdoches in 2002. Mindy's volunteerism includes school PTAs, choir and band programs, sports activities, dance teams, and booster clubs.

Mindy has spent her 30 plus year career navigating the ever-changing world of healthcare. She has a wealth of hands-on experience managing public budgets, exceeding expectations of accountability and meeting state and federal mandates and standards.  She has experience in working directly with federal and state agencies to ensure financial practices are meeting required standards and expectations.  During the last few years Mindy has experienced the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, forcing a complete change in how hospitals managed under and un-insured patients in Texas.  The implementation of this Act has forced everyone to step outside of the box and find ways to help all patients be able to receive healthcare and find a way to pay for it. This last year has proved difficult for all industries as we have had to learn how to operate in a more virtual world.  Everyone has had to learn how to put safety and others first as we attempt to interact and conduct our lives.

Mindy and her husband, Charlie, were given a second chance at love and married in 2013.  They have 5 children between them, 4 daughters (Brittany, Katie, Jamie and Torie), 1 son (Dalton); 2 sons-in-law (Ian and Lance); 1 daughter-in-law (Hailey) and 4 granddaughters (Chloe, Audrey, Shelby and Harlow), who are their pride and joy.  Three daughters have graduated from NHS in classes of 2011, 2017 and 2019.  Their girls are 3rd generation Dragons, as Mindy’s parents graduated in 1962 and 1964.

Mindy is a 1985 graduate of NHS and attended SFA pursuing a degree in General Business. During her time in college she went to work full time for a medical billing company, married and had a baby, thus putting the completion of her degree on hold.

Mindy has enjoyed working with youth groups at church where her children were involved.  She served on the Board of the Nacogdoches Youth Softball Association as treasurer and served as Treasurer and President of the NHS Dragonette Booster Club.

Mindy and her husband, Charlie, are members of Holly Springs Baptist Church.
